1.THE ENDING: I was left hanging at the end of the story. I had a great desire to know what happened to the dad in specific and the reaction of KO when Hideyo came home. Yoko and Ko get there brother back and later there Dad it is a happy ever after although the mother died (the girls weren't that sad in my opinion about it). I thought it was a great experience for Ko and Yoko that there mom died because they learned survival skills and became Women who could take care of therselves even without a Man or Women in the house. Yoko became very mature during the time she spent with her mom and sister. Yoko I think didn't have any more drama in the story. They probably struggled to surrvive a little longer though.
2. IF my family was in the position that the Kawashimas were in then we would probably sing some Jewish songs on Friday knights and just some random songs during g. We would do that to maintain our religion and spirit during a time of need. IT really helps some people to be into there religion when they have nothing else.
3. I really liked KO in this story because she seemed like a really cool girl. She is very courageous I thought that because she was very smart and obedient and didn't cry over physical things like being hurt When she was hurt by the bomb she didn't cry but when her mom died she cried. she cries over important things and doesn't hold back anyone.
Ko showed me how to lay low and become more obedient. I like that about her because if you listen and lay low your whole life you will be respected and looked up to in my opinion. Then when it is the right time you pop up and do something good like shoe shining in Ko's place.
4. I was suprised that the soldiers were so mean and killed so many people. I also learned that the war affected people for there whole life even if they wern't involved. It probably split a lot of family's like it split Hideyo and the women of the family. I think the 38th parallel was very badly garded for a stupid teen(Hideyo) got through without being shot. that is also how the north Koreans got through and invaded south korea.(my opinion)
5. I think that in this story Yoko learns not to be selfish and how to rise to the occasion a exsample is when . Ko already knew how. She almost seemed ready for the war. I think the moral is hope. I think that because they hoped they had more courage to do anything.
Another moral they have is pride. I feel yoko expressed pride by walking into a classroom with her head shaved and wearing rags. That represents pride because she wasn't afraid to walk in becuase she knew that she had gone through a lot in the past and that is why she wasn't dressed like a lady.

Bamboo grove #4
1. Mr. Naido is nice to Yoko because he saves her supplies that she would have had to buy if it weren't for him. Yoko is helping him speak better and that could be something he will use for his whole life. I think Yoko is ableing Mr.Naido to talk better by having conversations with him which makes him exercise his communication abilities allowing him to talk more fluently.
2. I think it shows yoko that Ko is not mean allways but she can work for her family and that she has a good heart. She worked for a feast for mostly Yoko and herself because there is no one who would do this for her.
3. how do you think Hideyo will get over to Japan?
I think he might not get get back over to Japan. If he went to a communist barn hes pretty screwed.

1.A The Kiwoshima girls did not think that it was safe for a Japenese girls to live in a korea at this time. In specific Pusan was horrible because there were several occasions of rape that they saw even before the party of drunken koreans celebrating there freedom and the drunk men were raping many people.
1.B If I was one of the three girls I would want to leave Hideyo because I wouldn't know if he is dead or not. One problem would be having to contact him it would be extremely hard because there were no cell phones back then. But at least the girls left without him for a good reason all of the girls in that family were in danger of being raped.
Question: If you were Hideyo would you be angry if your family left you in another place that you didnt know and there were crazy men around?
Answer: I would be really pissed because there would be no communication but after a while of thinking I would come to my senses and realize that the town that they were refuging in was full of perv's and leach's(stocker/pervert).

Hideyo shows courage by getting his friends before he left the ammunition center.Hideyo also shows courage by walking alone to Seol for his family. In the first place he is courageous for trying out to fight for his countrey. I havn't learned a lot about Hideyo interacting with his family but I don't think it shows anything when Yoko calls Hideyo honorable brother because he couldn't even pass the mental test for the army.
If I was forced to leave my home I would have my mom manage getting all of the food and her clothes. I would have my sister get as much clothes as she can fit in a big bag and grab the dog because he barks at strangers and scares people away.I would get my cellphone for communication to my family in other places that were not being evacuated. My laptop would help for communication and and entertainment and same with my game boy.I would bring a pocket knife if my dog doesn't do the trick. My Dad would be in charge of his stuff and all the money. My brother would have around the same list as I did
There were three things that have really shocked me throughout the book
. When the mom had a baby but it was dead and they had to throw the baby off the train but the mom didn't want that so she jumped off while it was moving.
. When the soldiers came and they put the blanket of goop that comes out before a women is about to have a baby on Yoko To make her look older and like she is having a baby.
. When The soldiers invaded the ammunition factory and killed almost everybody just because three people shot.

1.Yoko is very shy I say that because she was very nervous and afraid to dance and shake hands with the damaged souljers. I also think she is very generous because she gave dried fish and water to the pregnat lady. she is very young and her attitude represents that for exsmple at first she didnt want to share her blanket with a freezing mother and baby because of blood. she also likes writing I could tell because when she had to leave she tried to bring her writing things.
2.IN this point in the book ko and yoko's relationship isn't normal becuase what there going through has put them in moremature state. I can tell that yoko respects ko because she listened to what she has to say and does whatever she is told by ko. She is honorable because she bosses yoko around in my opinion.
3.The kawashima family was extremely nice to the passengers by lending them water food and as much help and mental nurisment as possible. If I were them I would find it hard to help people who are so desprit and sick which was what ws happening with yoko.

dragon rider post 4
I read for 2 hours and 30 minutes and I have read 75 pages since the last post.
I think it it was wierd how twigleg survived the first day with Ben(human). It was wierd becuase homunculus(twigleg) die the first day they bond with a human. In my opinion twigleg bonded with ben so twigleg should be dead. Twigleg is a tiny creature that you can make with flesh and blood wich appeared gross to me at first. Twigleg is the evil golden dragons slave, nettlebrand who I learned through reading farther that nettlebrands armour is fools gold not gold but few people know that because it is a embaricing secret for the dragon. Although twigleg helped firedrake (dragon), sorrel(brownie,(cat)) and ben shew the fayries away, it was ony because he wanted the group to get farther in there journey to find out the secret of the rim of heaven to report back to his master(nettlebrand). But twigleg could have done it for the reason above and for the human because he is beginning to bond with him in my opinion.

DRAGON RIDER POST 2
I read for 2 hours this week and loved the part I am reading. I read 75 pages.
The most evil charecter so far is a dragon named nettlebrand. He has many servents who he eates if they don't do what he wants them to do or dosen't please him. He also has a tiny servent named twigleg who cleans nettlebrand's golden scales, tells him stories, sharpen's his claw's, scrubs his moulth and does whatever he want's he also had seven brother's who were eaten by nettle. That is only a couple of example's of how evil this golden-dragon spoiled brat is, he used to hunt siver dragon's which is what the main charecter of the story is and now he landed in this mean dragon's territory who sent twigleg on a mission to follow firedrake (main charecter) to wherever he goes to see if he lives in a pack so nettlebrand can hunt a whole pack of silver dragon's.

DRAGON RIDER POST 2
I am reading Dragon Rider by Cornella Funke. I read 75 pages and am enjoying the action and mental picture I am getting when I read.
Qusetion: Have you had action or drama in your book? What kind and what was it?
My favorite part in the section I read was when it described firedrake (dragon) slithering in the water like a snake in a canal.
I enjoyed that part because I really like dragons and I could picture the movie anacanda with a dragon replaced with the water snake.
The coolest part of the section was when the dragon let out a sigh and "it showered blue sparks" which was quoted from the book. I liked that because I could see instead of water in my shower it would be blue sparks.
Vocabulary:
conscientious: Basically rebelling against athority
gazed: To stare at a object with intrest, pleasure, and curiosity
ruffled: To disturb or or irratate
manifesting: To be obvious and open
eavesdrop: to listen in on ones private conversation

DRAGON RIDER POST 1
the book I'm reading is dragon rider by cornella funke. I read 25 pages and am enjoying it so far.
Question:how many pages did you read and why?Whas it hard?Do you enjoy it?
my favorite part was when sorrel and firedrake start to pack for there long journey to the ring of heven. I liked that because it was really drimatic and kind of stupid because they were setting off for a place that doesn't exist.
If I were to switch a thing in the story it would be the conversation because it was long and had no action and I like action so it relates to me in a opposite kind of way also how much the dragon's use fire
Vocabulary:
clinging:basically to leach on to something or to hold onto in a vary firm manner.
peevishly:doing something like tour irrated and snappy
thorouphly:complere and perfect
tedious:long and tiresome
huskily:means to be big and strong

final post
1. I think this quote means that you cant let a group of people make you do something you don’t want to do. It is a good idea to follow this quote because if the group that is trying to persuade you and the group is bad than you become bad also and that is not good. The big group is the wave trying to persuade Lisa. If you are in a situation like Lisa you should do exactly what she didbecause she handled it very nicely.
I think that in a older person's life a big group would be committing to violence, drug’s, unprotected sex or uncareful drinking and would try to get somebody who doesn't want to join them join them. When the person the bad group is trying to persuade refuses the group might beat up the person or just look down on them in general. In this situation the group that does drugs alchahol, cigarettes, Etc. is the Wave and the rebellion would be Lisa. For my specific age (##) I think that one of my friends would try to get me to do a stunt like jumping off things or sneaking into places I don’t want to sneak into. Another example would be when a friend tryes to get me to tease a retarded person so they can see the reaction because my friends might think it is funny. It is not only group’s that will ever try to persuade you sometimes it’s only one person. Groups of people trying to get you to do something is not always bad for instance my temple is helping people that are misfortunate or are in a crisis because of the fire. Sometimes people will warn you not to do something so groups are not always bad if that is what you thought I said above.
2. I think Robert became more confidante and noticed that he could become devoted to something other that being a helpless nerd. I think that the wave had a huge impact on Robert because it was something that people wouldn’t make fun of him for. In fact I think it was the opposite, some of the people in the school I think looked up to him because he was like a general for the wave and was the body guard for Mr. Ross which probably meant a lot to some of the other Wave members. I think Robert’s future will not be as good as the time of the Wave but I’m sure Robert made a friend from the Wave that will still be his friend. The waves end also really cracked Robert’s shell because it was the first time in his life that he will totally feel included.
Robert got to comfortable with the wave and when it stopped and went back to normal that was when Robert had a huge impact and it will be hard for him to adjust. Some people will still be nice to Robert and treat him as an equal because they saw his true colors. I don’t think he will just go back to normal.
3.Facisim: A government system led by a dictator having full power, forcibility suppresins opposition and criticism regimenting industry, commerce, Etc., and emphasis an aggressive nationalism and often racism.
A: In the Wave a form fascism would be when the group of kids attacked a Jew because he wasn’t in the wave and called him a dirty Jew, which is anti-Semitism, and that is a form of racism but just with religion. When the wave sent Lisa’s boyfriend to recruit Lisa and he pushed her, that was aggressive so that is fascism.
B: There are many historical events with fascism for instance Hitler was anti-semetic along with his Nazi party (boo) and was aggressive against Jews and whoever wasn’t like him. Black slavery was whites and many others who were racist and had no feelings for black people.
4. Avoiding Mob Mentality
To avoid mob mentality you must decide if the group is productive in a good way or stupid and unproductive. A way to tell about a specific group would to be first asking your friends and family what they think. The second thing to do would to do research on the people within the group and find out if they have a bad or good reputation. If someone asked you to be in a group you haven’t ever heard of always say no or I will think about it. Do not go into groups if you there are the opposite gender than yourself and they are five years older especially if you are a girl because if you get to comfortable with one person they could turn on you. I would take all my tips in mind but that’s just my opinion.
thank you for your time,
Max

Project title: Family history project
Class: Ms. Interlandi’s d’s dates: 18 October
Purpose
The purpose of this project was to learn about our family and a historical event that they were in. In specific I learned about my grandfather’ event which was the Korean War and what his opinion was on it. Also when I interviewed him he gave me facts about what was happening socially and mentally on his ship.
What I learned
I learned about the Korean War, how it happened, when it happened, why it happened, what happened and who was involved. I had to use the computer to learn about the Korean War. I think another skill would be typing; everything in by scrapbook is typed. I also thought pasting and cutting were a big part of my project because every paper is pasted and cut so that it looks neat. I learned how to put things in my words better. And complete sighting my sources.
Reflection
I enjoyed the project because I got to learn a lot about the Korean War that I didn’t even no about till this project. Also I learned about the significance and how many people died. I learned about my grandfather’s experience in the war and about his job that was a second-class torpedo men. I procrastinated a lot in this project and if I could do it again I would get everything done at the beginning.
I couldn't get it on my blog till today sorry ms. Interlandie

2. ?I picked the quote "damn it Ben! because it suprised me it used another swear word in the story. I also think it was needed to catch Ben's atttention and to express how angry princaple Owens was at the moment. I think I would be mad to if I was a pricaple and one teacher was basically making my school into a milatary school and he was only doing it for an experiment.
3.what do you think Robert and Mr.Ross are going to talk about?why?
I think they are going to talk about how he can fit in too but I think it would be better to top it off if he said what they were going to talk about.

wave 4
1. I think Ben is worried about the experiment getting out of hand and he doesnt know how it is going to end. Mr.Ross is also worried about losing his job and deleteing trust with the princeple.
2. I chose the quote,"welcome to the Wave or else" because they are kind of making fun of it because Mr. Ross is taking it to far and that is something drastic that he would say.
3.How do you think the wave will stop

wave 3
1. I can tell mr. Ross is losing control of his esperiment because there is a poster with the wave symbol on the wall, he dressed with a blue suit and a white shirt with a tie wich are the colors of the wave symbol, he made membership cards, he made students monitors so that they can basically tell on someone if thy are not following the wave, he is leading them in a communist way, he is trying to have students recruit other people into the wave. I think he is acting like hitler try filling in the word wave with nazi it works and he is dictating like hitler did
2. I like the quote "STRENGTH THROUGH COMMUNITY",STRENGTH THROUGH ACTION" and "STRENGTH THROUGH DISCIPLINE" I liked that because line because it is a really cool motto but mr. ross is enforcing it harshly
3. Would you spread the wave if you were in mr.Rosses class and he told you to? why?

wave 2
1. The moddo "STRENGTH THROUGH DISCIPLINE" is deffenately affecting the classoom because everybody is behaving properly and nobody is talking out of turn. I also thingk that the football team will listen to the wave than they can be a all-star team. If the wave can spread to the football team than it could spread through the whole school and the community could improve 10 fold.
2.My quote is "Ross expected another wisecrack and he was suprised when it didnt come"I could relate to that because sometimes I make "wisecrack" jokes like that but when a important time comes I quiet down and stop completely just like the class.
3.QUESTION:what do you do that takes discipline to succeed like Andrea doing ballet why does it take discipline ?

The Wave
1.The wave is based on a true incident that occurred in a high school history class in Palo Alto California, in 1969. Somethings that are different about are school and their school is one, It is a highschool two, their are bells three, they have a news paper and four they have bouring mean teachers. I could tell it was a long time ago beacause it involved "tape players","tipewriters","filmed projecters" and "young smoking".
2.The quote that stood out to me would be "The human skeletons still alive had the gruesome task of stacking the dead under the watching eyes of the nazi soldiers. That stood out to me because they were talking about Jews and I am a Jew wich makes me very emotional because it decreased the populatin of my culture to a small percent. Also I could imagine exactly what there talking about because of the descriptive words the writer of the book chose.
3. How many of you think that 90% of all the Germans knew about the consentration camps?why?

Question 1:I thaught the saddest part was ether when Betty Ann's mom asked why all the girls hated Betty Ann and that she loved them or when the main charecter saw Betty in the nurses office because she had run off because she had a broken heart. thaught it was sad because I have been in that situation both ways before and it is very devistating and sad. Also I could imgine her just trying to make friends but a bunch of mean girls
Question 2:I would have said something when the main charecters friend called Betty Anns house and her friend was talking to her badly about Betty Ann which is really mean but she hung up so that was good on her part . Deffenately I would have said it their because I would realize that she(betty ann) was nice and not a freak.
Question 3:I thaught the moral of this story was watch what you do because you cant wrase it and move on it will allways be with you. I also thaught it might be be careful what you say because some people can get offended and some people cant.

planet earth
The two movies that we watched were about the planet earth. The two byomes were the plains of the tundra and the rain forest. The rain forest byome talked about monkeys, frogs, trees, birds, and fruit I learned that female frogs jump on to the loudest and biggest frog. The fig tree can grow fruit all year long so it is ver reliable for apes, monkeys, birds and more. 2% of all the sunlight in the rainforest gets to the ground. For the plains of the tundra we learned about the five million snow geese that traveled from the gulf of Mexico to the tundra. Also the tundra plains are home to the most animals in the world. Snow cyotes wait all year for snow geese but it is not allways easy so they just take the eggs and bury them for later. I had a lot more facts that I didn,t share but overall I really liked the movie

response to seventh grade
QUESTION 1: My favorite line of this story was when Mr.lucas asked victor an example of a noun and he said teresa. I liked that part because It totally embarressed Victor. I also liked it beacause it said everyone knew he had a crush on Teresa wich apeared very funny to me because that would just make the embarresment worse than it already was. It also had a good following line which another person answered another question of mr.lucas's which was a place, with Teresas house with a kitchen full of big brothers.I actually liked that short story beacause it wasnt corny like a lot of other beging of grade books.
OUESTION 2: That story relates to me because when I go to my first day of school I am happy to see all my friends. I also might imberrese my self a little bit.
